In a universe of books, you need your star to shine brighter than the others. This means having a cover that is striking. Something that grabs people from a distance. Something that can stop people from scrolling and intrigue them enough to click.
Recently, I’ve been thinking about changing my cover for Otherworlders. I do like my current cover, but I feel it’s not as sharp as I’d like it to be. It also might be difficult to read as a thumbnail. There’s a trend going on right now about clean, simple images, usually hand drawn, and clear colors. I didn’t think I would like it, but I’m starting to come around. So, I mocked up a few possible new covers for Otherworlders, and I wanted to see what you all thought about them. So give them a look, and let me know if you like any above the others, or if you think I should stick with the cover I have.
Thanks!

I like the original best, but maybe the treatment of the title and font could be changed to stand out a bit more. the new cover with the little worlds all over are a bit busy and the others don’t look much clearer, if that was the aim. I like the concept of the original, but as you say, as a thumbnail it has to be clear and readable.

I loved the original cover the best as well. And you are absolutely right on having a cover that grabs the eye. I never even stop and read what the book is about without an eye-catching cover. That’s just me though.

Thanks . It’s hard to decide what’s best for these sorts of things sometimes. The great thing about being an indie and publishing digitally is that an author can try things out. So, for now I’m experimenting with a different cover. I’m unsure of which I’ll use in the long run. The print book still has the old cover.
