As you may have noticed, I’ve been having trouble keeping up with my blog the past few months.  It’s like all my motivation just drained from me and left me a tired shell.  I think I can pinpoint most of this feeling to an exciting contract that I had that fell through.  It put me in a funk, and it’s been a tremendous fight to try to get over it.  It might be slow, but I am trying.

Last month I wrote two 10,000 word short stories.  See?  I’m doing stuff.  This month, well, I haven’t written much.  The first of those stories will be in The Future Chronicles, a special edition of the series.  The other story I’m shopping around.  I might even turn it into a novel some day.  Do you like Space Murder Mysteries?  I hope so.

I’ve been getting back into the swing of things with my Mention Monday.  I actually had an amazing month last month, and have a bunch of things to mention.  I just need to start setting an alarm or something so I remember that Monday is Monday.  Too often I find myself realizing on Tuesday that Monday is gone.  Not that I strictly have to stick to alliteration, but I think it’s a good structure to stick with.  I’m thinking that I might bring back Serial Sunday.  I don’t want to over-promise, and I don’t know exactly when I’ll start, but it’s something I want to do.  What will the new Serial Sunday be about?  I’m planning for it to be a companion to Otherworlders.  If you are subscribed to my mailing list, then you probably got a little bonus scene featuring the character Chase.  He was important to the story, and originally had a lot more air time, but a bunch of his story got cut out in the editing process as his character got redefined.  Some people had mentioned that they didn’t feel like they got to know him very well in the novel.  Therefore, I’m planning to create Otherworlders: The Chase Chronicles.  It’ll be an ongoing feature on my blog that explores all the things Chase was doing during the book.  How’d he react when the Otherworlders arrived?  How’d he wind up in the military?  What’d he do when he left Tomas and Samantha?  Who are these contacts he has?  What other missions did he go on?  He freed a lot of people and escaped the government a couple times, and we didn’t get to see all that much of it.  And what really happened between him and Kara during their time together?  And if you think this companion series is a hint that there may be more Otherworlders to come, you might be right. 🙂  Just to warn you, though, it probably won’t happen very fast.  At some point, once The Chase Chronicles is finished, I plan to collect it and put it on Amazon.

I also want to bring back Writing Wednesday, and hopefully at some point, if I can find the energy and muses, Flash Fiction Friday.

So bear with me, I’m still at it, just at a little slower pace.  Thank you for reading my work and following my blog!  I’m grateful for every single one of you.

Welcome to my blog!  If you’ve com here for the Zombie Crawl, then you’ve likely been at it for days.  If you’re one of my regulars, then, hey look!  It’s a Zombie Crawl!  😀

Here’s the giveaway:  A free audible copy of my book 22 Short Scifi Stories (there’s plenty of dystopia in there).  Just comment and I’ll pick 3 people to give codes to.

For my post, I decided to put up one of my favorite flash fictions that I’ve written. (also, here’s a picture of me as a zombie that I made in Photoshop).

I thought things would get easier. Truth is, I guess, they never do. Life, death, or whatever you call this, it’s all the same. I should know. I remember everything from my former life. Some say I’m lucky, or, would if they could talk. Continue reading →

Last Week’s WW:  Making A Word Baby

It’s no easy task to see the future.  But writers have been doing it for a long time.

In 1863, Jules Verne wrote the novel Paris in the Twentieth Century.  He wrote about a future that was 100 years away.  This book got lost in a vault.  It wasn’t until 1994 that it was published.  Many of his predictions were right on target.

Star Trek also had great insight into the future.  Flat screen TVs, tablets, flip phones, heck, cell phones in general, touch screen computers, and those are just some of the technologies that we’ve already obtained.

HG Wells predicted that we would go to the moon long before there was flight.

How did they do this?  Continue reading →

So, I suppose it’s the end of the month.  Maybe I should be doing updates for May?  But I don’t really know what’s in store for next month.  I suppose, in a lot of ways, I live my life day to day.  A lot of the time I think it’d be better if I could plan for the future a bit more.  But, I guess there’s something to be said for living in the moment.  Right?

I am currently somewhere over the ocean.  The Pacific ocean this.  I guess to get from Puetro Vallarta to Los Angeles, the quickest route is over water.  The flight attendant is putting up a screen between us regular people and the first class.  Although, to be honest, I think that I would fly first class if I could afford it.  Or business class.  Whatever they’re calling it these days.   Continue reading →

Bus Blogging – Daydreams

Usually when I ride the bus, I listen to audio books. But today, I can’t stop thinking about my book. That, and the fact that the bus smells vaguely of crayons. Which is better than other things it could smell of, I suppose.

I’m almost 1/4 of the way through this round of revisions. I think ( probably naively so) that the really hard part is over. I created a lot of new content, and mixed in some of the old. But I’m now getting to the point where it’s still got a bit if new stuff, some breaking it apart and stitching it back together in different places, but mostly it’ll be polishing. With any luck, this is it. Unless someone is paying me to change things in the book (like a publisher) then hopefully this is the last draft that I’ll need to do.   Continue reading →

Bus Blogging – Sigh

The road to financial stability is a long one. As is the one the bus takes me home on. It takes roughly 45 min to comments via the bus. About 20 when I drive. Tonight I got off of work just in time to run and catch the bus. Glad I didn’t miss it. Turns out it was standing room only. Which, after a few hours on my feet at work and the sprint, wasn’t fun. I chose to go to the very back of the bus. As I did, it turned out I had walked past an empty seat by the window. The man stood up and promptly offered it to the woman behind me.
So I stood and waited. Continue reading →

A New Adventure – Bus Blogging

I started taking a different bus today. Why? Because I got a different job. Didn’t take me nearly as long as I expected. The downside is that its to the East, so I probably won’t be moving to the Westside any time soon.

I was almost slightly hesitant, or at least felt a little bad, about leaving my last job. Especially without giving notice. But then I got paid today. Once again my paycheck was a couple hundred short of what I expected it to be. So that made leaving easier.   Continue reading →

For some reason, it seems like waiting for the bus in the early morning hours brings out more strange people than mid-day.

A man walking by, jingling change, wearing a rucksack, and repeatedly asking if anyone had cigarettes for sale.   Continue reading →
