Last Week’s MM: 2014 My Blog in Review

There are a lot of Unlimited services going around these days.  I have Hulu, where I can watch a selection of unlimited shows and movies for a monthly fee.  I like to listen to IHeart radio.

When Kindle Unlimited came about, I, like many writers, were terrified.  A few months later, and it looks like our fears may have been valid.   Continue reading →

Last Week’s MM: Write On

I’ve been seeing an increase in anthologies lately.  They, and short stories, are making an impact on the writing scene.

Anthologies are great things.  They allow authors to explore certain topics or genres.  They can pair newer, but worthy, writers with established ones, and introduce readers to authors that they may not have otherwise found.

One great example of this is The Future Chronicles.

The first of these, The Robot Chronicles, explores how robots might be in the future.  It has stories from Hugh Howey and Matthew Mather, two of my favorites, as well as a great many other authors who I hadn’t had an opportunity to read before.  It was a quick read.  The stories are each short, but intriguing and impossible to put down.

The second installment is the recently released The Telepath Chronicles.   This book has another fantastic offering of authors.  It explores the possibility of mind-to-mind communication.   As of writing this, I’ve only started reading this one, but I’m certain that I won’t be disappointed.

These books are arranged by Samuel Peralta, a talented author.  The future of The Future Chronicles isn’t to stop at 2.  They will keep going.  And I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Last Week’s FFF: Descended

Gist Rough Upr Exbold Two Demo

Deckland rolled his wrist around, grinding the joint together with an audible pop. With his left hand, he rubbed his right, massaging away the tightness in his muscles. He flicked his arm back and forth, returning the feeling to the limb.

Once renewed, he reached for the water canteen on his hip. Hands slick with sweat, he fumbled with the lid. He opened it, and held the container to his lips. He let the last trickle of hot water run into his mouth. He held it there for a long second, absorbing most of it with his parched tongue before swallowing.  Continue reading →

Last Week’s SS – Intruders

Dealt

Indecision overwhelmed my senses, and I could do nothing more then sneak another look into the room.  The man across from Victoria had his back to her and the guards.  He was inspecting our mantel.   Without turning, he spoke.  His voice was deep, but he spoke with a smooth, even tone.

“Did you find the girl?” he asked.

“She wasn’t in her room,” one of his men replied.

“Where is she?” he asked.

“I don’t know, sir.”

“I wasn’t talking to you.  I was talking to the Hierophant, if that is your real card.  Where is the child?”

“I don’t know about any child,” she said.   Continue reading →

So, I suppose it’s the end of the month.  Maybe I should be doing updates for May?  But I don’t really know what’s in store for next month.  I suppose, in a lot of ways, I live my life day to day.  A lot of the time I think it’d be better if I could plan for the future a bit more.  But, I guess there’s something to be said for living in the moment.  Right?

Last Week’s FFF – Faithful

zombiesapien

It was hot and muggy inside the desalinization plant. The building was drenched in sunshine, but enclosed, allowing no wind. It was so continuously bright that it forced the laborers to wear dimming goggles.

Craig worked the machine, his strong arms pumping, helping extra fresh water from the salty soup. His mouth was dry, and his brow was wet. He stayed an arm and raised it to wipe his forehead. Continue reading →

So I seeded the sky with story bubbles, and a cloud burst with words this morning.  I woke up, and while I was lying in bed, a scene unfolded in my brain.  Word for word.  I figured I should probably get up and write it down before it evaporated.  Below is an intro to my newest story.  It’s going to be a serialized fiction, and the first part is The Skyland.  If you like, then let me know.  If you hate it, then let me know.  Any feedback is appreciated.  And remember, this is just a quick first draft to introduce the concept.  Not sure that this scene will make the book as is.  Plus, I’m still working on characters, story arcs, and the outline.  I hope you enjoy!

My brother and I snuck up to the roof of our building to watch the storm. It wasn’t the tallest by far. Next door towered nearly twice as high. But it didn’t matter. Every structure had just about the same view. After all, we lived on an island in the sky. Affectionately referred to by a mash up of the two words, and called the Skyland.   Continue reading →

2103 – a look back and forward

2013, 2014, future, look back, new year, new year's eve, new years, picture, reflection, review

2013 is coming to an end, so it’s time to look back and forward.  I think, all in all, it’s been a pretty great year.  I’ve had a lot of struggles with getting a good job this year.  I’m still working on finding one.  Finances have been troublesome, too.  I’m working hard to find a job that can sustain me until I publish.  But with the few bad things, there has also been a lot of good stuff.  I started this blog.  I think it’s going well so far.  With any luck, next year it will continue to grow.  I’d love to have more followers, more content, and a great relationship with all my readers.  I also hope that next year I can get my book published.  The revisions are coming to an end, everything is tight and flows well, I think.  It’s just about ready.  And of course, I’ll write more books next year.  Hopefully a couple.  I have so many ideas.  Can’t wait to get them all down.  Next year, my twenties will be over.  I guess I’ll really be an adult by any standard.  In some ways, I feel completely grown and ready for the next stages of my life.  In other ways, I feel so young, a little lost at times, and not ready.  People often think I’m about ten years younger than I am, and I think it throws off my own perception at times.  In the coming year, I hope that my relationship with my boyfriend continues to be amazing, and advances.  I also want my weight loss to continue.  This last year, I’ve lost an amount that I’m proud of.  In total, I’m down 40 lbs from my heaviest.  I feel like I still have 20-25 more to go.  My goal is to look like a Victoria Secret model.  Ambitious, but that’s just what I am in all areas of my life.  Have a great year everyone!  Please enjoy the things below.  One is my year in photos.  The other is my year in facebook statuses.

Journal Entry 27

There it is again. That feeling that I’ve done this before. That I’ve experienced this action, this moment, more times then I can count. Sure, everyone has this thought now and again. But the sensation is coming more frequently then before. Two, maybe even three times a day. It’s like I’m not just experiencing something I have before, I’m living a life that I’ve lived before. And it always ends the same.
