Last Week’s WW: The Writer’s Roller Coaster

A few weeks ago I wrote about how it’s important to create a schedule for yourself.  About how self-imposed deadlines can help you create, and stop you from procrastinating.  I still believe all of this to be true.  But, those plans don’t always work out.

So, I suppose it’s the end of the month.  Maybe I should be doing updates for May?  But I don’t really know what’s in store for next month.  I suppose, in a lot of ways, I live my life day to day.  A lot of the time I think it’d be better if I could plan for the future a bit more.  But, I guess there’s something to be said for living in the moment.  Right?

It’s always a special treat to run for the bus after a bad day at work (monetarily), to have the person sitting directly behind you coughing violently and continually. Then the person behind them coughs… Great. I’m going to stay as far away from them as I can in this cramped bus. I’ll crouch over my phone and try to breath non-contaminated air. If there is such a thing in the bus. The small child sitting in front of me, who’s mother has purple hair, is covered in scrapes and bruises. But at least she seems in high spirits.     Continue reading →

Bus Blogging – Sigh

The road to financial stability is a long one. As is the one the bus takes me home on. It takes roughly 45 min to comments via the bus. About 20 when I drive. Tonight I got off of work just in time to run and catch the bus. Glad I didn’t miss it. Turns out it was standing room only. Which, after a few hours on my feet at work and the sprint, wasn’t fun. I chose to go to the very back of the bus. As I did, it turned out I had walked past an empty seat by the window. The man stood up and promptly offered it to the woman behind me.
So I stood and waited. Continue reading →

Jeremiah sat behind the desk in his auto shop. The smell of old oil seeped through the walls, staining his office with the oder. He had nearly gotten used to it. Looking through reports, he rested his head on his hands, feeling the stress.

“Jer!” a man said. Jeremiah didn’t have to look up to know who it was.

“Hey, Rea,” he said flatly, raising his head. “Still fashionable as ever, I see,” he said, pointing out that Rea wore all black, as always.

“What can I say? I’m traditional. And it’s sliming.”

Jeremiah leaned back in his chair and groaned.

“Like you need it,” he said. Rea had always been skin and bones while life had made Jeremiah get doughy.

“I’m putting together a crew,” he said, straight to the point.   Continue reading →

Bus, job, Los Angeles, Pasadena, restaurant, work

Headed to my first real day of work. This far, it’s been all training. The restaurant opens tonight. So much that I will have to learn by doing. Scary and exciting.

My new position requires me to wear a little black dress. I’m meant to do my hair and make-up as if I’m going out. Classy tho, not over the top. I’m an odd site on the bus.

A strange thing just happened. The bus stopped for a minute and the bus drivers switched. The one that had been driving the bus got off, and a new driver had met up with him to take over. I haven’t seen that before.

This will be a short post. Too much other stuff to focus on. Have to learn table numbers and try not to panic.

A New Adventure – Bus Blogging

I started taking a different bus today. Why? Because I got a different job. Didn’t take me nearly as long as I expected. The downside is that its to the East, so I probably won’t be moving to the Westside any time soon.

I was almost slightly hesitant, or at least felt a little bad, about leaving my last job. Especially without giving notice. But then I got paid today. Once again my paycheck was a couple hundred short of what I expected it to be. So that made leaving easier.   Continue reading →

Someone just brought a vacuum onto the bus. Curious. Also, I hope this bus takes me where I need to go. I’ve got this bad habit of jumping on buses just because they show up and I recognize the number. I’m not on the bus that I’m supposed to take. But I’m pretty sure this goes to the stop I need. Hopefully at the right time.

I have been concerned for a while now that the job I’ve recently taken doesn’t pay enough to sustain me. After trying it out a few weeks, I’ve come to the conclusion that that’s correct. Sadly, I must start the hunt again.   Continue reading →

Happy Hour – Bus Blogging

My bus was late today, making me miss my transfer. Luckily, there was one not long after. Thank goodness for smart phones or I’d never find my way.

Happy hour. I guess this is a natural part of working in an office. Everyone gets wound up, frustrated, depressed from sitting in a box all day. Occasionally, you have to let it all out. For some reason, despite spending forty hours a week in close proximity to the same people, they want to spend a few hours more.   Continue reading →

Dressed for the Day – Bus Blogging

It seems like sitting at the front of the bus is an invitation for people to sit by you. It makes sense, people don’t want to walk very far. Last week I had a man, who I don’t believe spoke English, dresses as a cowboy of sorts, asked me to move over so he could sit next to me, despite the bus being nearly empty. Of course, I did.   Continue reading →
